The Panama Canal(History)

One of the world's most ambitious plans and a tribute to the incredible power of human will, the Panama Canal remains an undeniable success story in the history of engineering persistence, mechanical ingenuity and far-sighted US foreign policy. Throw in a little geo-political bullying, a generous dose of human rights abuse, and a total disregard for ecological ramification, then couple that with plenty of interesting historical footage, and you've got yourself a pretty darn good PBS documentary. Whether or not engineering, Panama, or even canals are topics of interest to you, this film is well-made enough to rouse the interest of even the most fervent of romantic comedy fans.
